Don’t Know Much About History, a Cairo Diary, is a publication by Graphic designer Bart De Baets. Bart made notes in Cairo, collected in this book, and pressed the book in Tallinn. Bart on his book: ´it’s about myself in Cairo, the things I experienced and encountered, but this could just as well have happened in any other city. It’s a light type of prose, stuffed with lists and references to popular culture. The sole presence of another type of popular culture inspired me to write. It’s on the people I’ve met and the things I did with them. I try to negotiate the problematic of the nation in a specific tone, that is close to me. The book could serve as alternative travel guide or as Pop reference Book.’
